Two Fields and a Gate,Hippodartmoor
Since lockdown Jane has studied the Two fields, kept by a friend in her mid eighties as a place on Dartmoor untouched and for nature to live safely in her care. Jane has kept many lists, of the flowers, birds and insects that have been a sound scape as she has painted. Yearly, arriving and departing.
For this series Jane initially had in mind the illustrations of botanist Keble Martin who was local to North Dartmoor. She pictured his tireless search throughout the local fields and moor for flowers to place in his satchel with a little water pot for nourishing their stems.
